Fashion Trend: Culottes

The culotte pant is definitely making a comeback and will be seen all through the spring and summer months. It is like a skirt-pant blend because the length and flowy style is that of a skirt but they are, in fact, pants. If you are anything like me, you will be wondering how you would style these pants. Although cute and fashionable, they don’t seem very flattering. They are oversized, roomy pants that fall below your knees. One things for sure, this is not a pant that you can attempt to wear with flats. Heels are a definite must with this outfit; the higher the better. Also, because the pants are more of a baggy fit, it looks best paired with cropped tops or structured blazers. Although I have seen worn with oversized sweaters, you would have to be overly confident to pull that off because it would give off more of a boyish look. Check out my look with a cobalt blue pair below.

February Wishlist

February Wishlist
Michael Kors Bradshaw watch / / ASOS Coat in Brushed Check / / Topshop tropical skort / / Nastygal Pink Lamiss Pump / / Zara Pleated Skirt / / Tory Burch Panama Sunglasses

We are two weeks into February and these are the items that I have been eyeing for a while. I have been looking for a spring coat and I think I have found the one that I NEED lol. This ASOS beauty is perfect for the upcoming months. The pastel striped coat is girly and light and will look great with distressed denim or a fitted dress. Therefore, I know I will get lots of use out of it. I also think I need these pink pumps. I believe pumps can dress up any outfit and if I had my way I would have pumps in every color. But since I can't, this pink option will definitely be a great addition to my closet.

I plan on living in skirts, shorts, and skorts all spring and summer. So this Topshop skort and Zara skirt are at the top of my list as I prepare for the change of season. And to end my list, I LOVE this gold watch with the pretty blue detail and who doesn't need another trendy, retro pair of sunglasses.

Kisses,
Simone

Beauty Trend: Orange Lipstick

So long plum, wine, and deep reds. Hello coral, tangerine, amber, and other orange shades. Lately, I have noticed that I am seeing lots of orange lips. From celebrities to fashion show runways, this trend is truly taking over. Stars from Solange to the beautiful Lupita Nyongo are wearing the latest fashion must-have. While searching for the perfect shade for me, I realized that there are some rules that must be followed when sporting this color. A couple of points to consider:

1. Let the lipstick be the focus of your face. I find that if you try this shade with bold make-up, you will find yourself looking like a clown. It is much better with a natural clean look. Ensure you have nicely shaped eyebrows and thick eyelashes with a couple coats of mascara or falsies. That will do the trick.

2. Try to match the shade to your skin tone. Lighter skin? corals or reddish-orange shades look great on you. Try Buxom Rogue. Medium skin? bold bright orange shades work well on you. Try MAC Lady Danger. Darker skin? burnt orange and deeper orange are the best options. Try MAC Chilli.

3. Your outfit should accentuate your lipstick, NOT match it. Don't wear an orange top with this lipstick. Try florals, pastels, and even monochromatic (black/white) looks.

4. Matte > Glossy. Matte lipsticks really allow the bold, rich color to shine through. Ensure you are really bronzed because the matte orange lip looks great with a highlighted, bronze face.
